At Major Brands, one of our core values is Community. Our employees are committed to enhancing and uplifting the communities in which we live and work. Below are a few examples of the organizations that Major Brands supports.
For more than a decade, Major Brands has supported the United Way through annual fundraising campaigns and raised more than $600,000 from employee contributions. This charity supports 170 nonprofit agencies in 16 counties of Missouri and Illinois and ensures that money and resources are invested in programs supporting education, family stability, safety, health and financial security. In 2015, Major Brands CEO Sue McCollum, a long-time supporter of the United Way, served as Co-Chairperson of the United Way of Greater St. Louis campaign. The fundraising campaign set a new company record of $136,000 raised statewide. The Major Brands family also teamed up with Beam Suntory and Randall’s Wine & Spirits to support a United Way of Greater Saint Louis fundraiser called The Lemonade Stand. Event-goers sampled a wide variety of lemonade-based cocktails.
Big Brothers Big Sisters
For more than five years, Major Brands has supported Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri, whose mission is to build trusting and enduring relationships that encourage and support young people. Major Brands’ employees participate in Bowl for Kids’ Sake, the agency’s largest fundraiser. In addition, Major Brands and its supplier partners donated a total of $20,000 to fund the cost of sponsoring 10 “Littles,” the youth supported by the organization. Big Brothers Big Sisters of America currently operates in all 50 states and 35 countries around the world.
Forest Park Forever
Major Brands’ volunteers lent a helping hand to protect and sustain Forest Park St. Louis through its 1st annual tree planting event. The group planted more than 600 native saplings across 6.5 acres of the Kennedy Forest Remnant inside the Park. Founded in 1986, Forest Park Forever is a private, non profit conservancy that works in partnership with the City of St. Louis and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry to restore, maintain and sustain Forest Park as one of America’s greatest urban public parks.
Urban League of Greater St. Louis
Major Brands’ employees conducted a Back to School Supplies Drive benefiting the Urban League of St. Louis. We collected much-needed school supplies including folders, binders, paper, crayons and glue to help fill 6,000 backpacks for St. Louis-area youth in need. The supplies collected were distributed at the National Urban League Conference.
Meals on Wheels
For 29 years, Major Brands has supported the Meals on Wheels organization, with company employees and their families delivering nutritious meals each Thanksgiving morning to elderly, disabled and home-bound members of the community. Over the years, thousands of St. Louisans in need have received meals through this enduring, all-volunteer partnership.
